If not today, if not now, when?

30 March 2022

What is it going to take for WA to have a serious conversation on climate change?

Is it going to take a summer of record breaking temperatures from Albany to Marble Bar?

Is it going to take multiple, terrifying bush fires threatening homes and lives?

It seems we’re going to need more than this.

Is it going to take a realization that each of us sandgropers are among the highest carbon emitters in the world?

Is it going to take a realization that fast tracking approvals for the nation’s most polluting fossil fuel projects is far from defensible?

It seems we’re going to need more than this.

Is it going to be when our state finally realizes a prosperous and sustainable future lies in our extraordinary sun and wind?

Is it going to be when our politicians finally have the courage to speak up and lead on climate action?

Is it going to be when our major political parties can no longer accept donations from fossil fuel companies?

Is it going to be when our local press no longer frames hot days as just beach opportunities and bushfires as just the work of arsonists?

If not today, if not now, when?
