Reminder of Living on the Knife’s Edge

Over the last month, Perth’s empty supermarket shelves once again demonstrated how dependent we are on the Nullarbor’s road and rail transport routes linking WA to the rest of Australia.

It reminded me of an op-ed Dr Peter McMahon and I wrote 15 years ago (see below). I wanted to share it not only because it is still oddly relevant but also in memory of Peter who passed away a couple of months ago. He was an impressive critical thinker and one of the first university lecturers who really inspired me. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
